Component supplier Accuride is now producing its Gunite-branded 3922X cast iron brake drum on American soil, specifically at the company’s Rockford, Illinois Gunite foundry.
“Customers have been asking us for an American-made version of the 3922X for a few years, and we feel that the time was right to bring it back to Rockford,” said Jayne Orr, Accuride’s senior vice president for North American Sales.
The Gunite foundry updated their tooling to produce the domestically version of the brake drum, which corresponds to part number 3922XUSA. The drum weighs 105 lbs, is made of cast iron, and is designed for aftermarket applications.
