Shell Rotella T6 10W-30 full synthetic oil now available

Aug. 2, 2023
The oil improves fuel economy by up to 2% compared to conventional 15W-40 heavy duty diesel engine oil and provides 50% less wear than the industry standard, according to Shell Rotella.

Shell Rotella’s new T6 10W-30 heavy duty engine oil is now available at over 6,000 O’Reilly Auto Parts locations, the O’Reilly and Napa websites, and Amazon. The company stated that the fully synthetic oil provides better wear protection and improved fuel economy, making it well-suited to a variety of industries.

“Shell Rotella T6 10W-30 full synthetic is suitable for most modern low-emission heavy duty engines and older hard working diesel engines,” said Julie Wright, Shell Rotella’s North American brand manager. “This includes engines in Class 8 trucks, pick-up trucks, and vehicles used for construction, agriculture, and leisure activities.”

Among the oil's benefits are lower oil consumption, corrosion control, a low-ash formulation, and an extended drain capability, the company stated. As well as this, the T6 10W-30 is usable with biodiesel fuel and utilizes Triple Protection Plus, a combination of additives and synthetic base oils. Shell Rotella stated that this combination enhances a vehicle's fuel economy by up to 2% while also enhancing engine cleanliness that exceeds CK-4 deposit requirements by 33%.

Able to withstand colder temperatures, T6 10W-30 has a pour point of -39°C and can be used in place of a 15W-40 engine oil in most cases.

The full synthetic oil delivers better wear protection compared to conventional and synthetic blend and improved fuel economy in the fastest growing viscosity grade for diesel-powered vehicles, according to a Shell Rotella press release.
