New version of the smooth-sided commercial bus recently introduced.

Thomas Built Buses recently introduced a new version of its highly-successful Saf-T-Liner C2 bus design: a smooth-sided commercial bus that’s just the ticket for group transportation.

With a 75-year history as a leading manufacturer of school buses, it’s not surprising that most people think of those iconic yellow buses when they think of Thomas Built Buses. But there’s more to the bus business than school transportation, and more to the Thomas Built C2, as well.

The C2 always has been available for commercial use and, in response to customer requests, Thomas Built now offers an updated, image-conscious C2 that is a better fit for some commercial fleets. The new design features smooth sides – without school bus guard rails – to enhance its appearance, along with panoramic, solid pane windows and optional coach-style recliner seating.

“We are no strangers to the commercial bus business and we are excited to bring an updated look for the Saf-T-Liner C2 to the market,” said Ed Swaim, Thomas Built Buses C2 product manager. “There’s a real demand in the market from customers like universities, which want a modern-looking bus. The C2 is a very good value for a good looking commercial bus. And it’s a great choice for charters.”

Pierre Bouffard, sales and marketing manager for Autobus Thomas, the company’s Quebec, Canada, dealer, agrees. Bouffard received one of the first updated Thomas Built commercial C2 buses as a demo model, and he reports that everyone who’s seen it says, “That’s going to look good in my fleet.”

The C2 is widely recognized as safe, reliable and versatile, with state-of-the-art driver ergonomics and the most visibility in its class. The sleek new C2 joins Thomas’ Saf-T-Liner HDXand EFXmodels, which have been offered with smooth sides and commercial windows for decades.

Exterior and interior design enhancements to the redesigned Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner C2 model make it particularly well-suited for use as a commercial and coach bus, for long distance commuting, tour operators, city buses, university transit, shuttle buses, church groups and sports teams.
