The North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) announced leadership changes to its board of directors while outlining ongoing research efforts aimed at helping fleets navigate emerging technologies and improve operational efficiency.

Steve Mignardi, a former Daimler Truck North America executive, has been named board chair, replacing Rob Reich of Schneider, who is stepping down after eight years in the role.

Charlotte Argue of Geotab was elected treasurer, along with the following new members:

  • Chris Avery, sales director, commercial road transport, Shell
  • Chris Hammond, executive vice president, industry affairs and strategic accounts, Great Dane
  • Steve Hussain, senior vice president head of government affairs, Prologis
  • Dan Symons, vice president maintenance operations, Schneider
  • Bill Walmsley, product category director, Michelin

These new board members join returning board members:

  • Ryan Bankerd, global director of automotive sustainability, UPS
  • Leia Guccione, managing director of carbon-free transportation, RMI
  • Steve Hanson, senior director of fleet operations, engineering and sustainability, PepsiCo
  • Madhu Madheswaran, director–product management, heavy trucks, International
  • Matt McLelland, vice president of sustainability and innovation, Covenant
  • Amanda Phillips, general manager, North America on-highway OEM engine sales, Cummins
  • Paul Rosa, senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning, Penske
  • Gregory Treinen, vice president, on highway market development, Daimler Truck North America.

The board updates come as NACFE continues expanding its research on real-world fleet performance and emerging technologies.

So far in 2026, NACFE has published additional findings from the Messy Middle initiative, with more reports planned, and launched new studies on trailer aerodynamics and overall fleet efficiency. The group also hosted a data workshop analyzing operational insights from Run on Less fleets.
