The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) recently removed two devices form its list of registered electronic logging devices (ELDs). These devices included Walker ELD and SR ELD, which were revoked because they didn't meet the minimum requirements of Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395, which covers the basic funcitonal requirements for ELDs.

More specifically, the removed devices are:

WALKER ELD
- Model Number: WAL-R ELD
- Identifier: WLK790
- ELD Provider: Walker ELD System Inc.
SR ELD
- Model Number: SR-E
- ELD Identifier: SRE288
- ELD Provider: SR ELD LLC

Fleets using these devices now have 60 days to replace the revoked ELDs with compliant ones. FMCSA will send out an industry-wide email to let fleets know that anyone using the Walker ELD or SR ELD must stop using them and revert to paper logs or logging software and replace the ELDs with ones from the Registered Devices list before September 29, 2025.

Up to September 29, inspectors shouldn't cite drivers for using the revoked ELDs and request paper logs or logging software instead. After that date, carriers who keep using the Walker and SR ELDs will be considered as operating without an ELD and will be place dout of service.

If the ELD providers correct the identified deficiencies for their devices, they will be restored to the Registered ELDs list.
