FMCSA removes four more ELDs from registered list

Dec. 12, 2024
Motor carriers have until February 9 to replace these devices or risk drivers being placed out of service.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has removed four more ELDs from the list of registered electronic logging devices. These include Columbus ELD  Model C-US and MasterELD models MELD02, MELD03, and MELD04.

FMCSA placed these ELDs on the revoked devices list because the providers failed to meet the minimum requirements established in 49 CFR part 395, subpart B, appendix A. The removals took place on December 11.

Motor carriers have up to 60 days, or until Feb. 9, 2025, to replace the revoked ELDs with compliant ELDs. FMCSA advised operators cease using the revoked ELDs and revert to paper logs or logging software to record required hours of service data in the meantime.

To avoid compliance issues, FMCSA encourages users of these devices to take the above actions if the ELD providers do not address the deficiencies.

If the ELD providers correct all identified device deficiencies, FMCSA will place the ELDs back on the list of registered devices and inform the industry of the update.

Motors carriers that use any of these four ELDs that remain non-compliant after Feb. 9 will be considered operating without an ELD. Safety officials who encounter a driver using a revoked device will place the driver out of service.
