Teletrac Navman has released new driver-distraction, cell-phone usage, and drowsy-driver detection features on the AI-powered IQ Camera. The IQ Camera is a dashcam and video telematics device for driver monitoring and coaching.
"AI-powered video telematics solutions leverage advanced algorithms to monitor different aspects of driver behavior,” said Mayank Sharma, global head of Product Management, Teletrac Navman. “We are excited to bring these new detection features to the market through the IQ Camera and provide real-time alerts and insights to reduce the likelihood of incidents and promote the well-being of drivers."

With the new features, the IQ Camera can both identify and track mobile phone use, erratic head movements, and gaze deviations, and then respond accordingly to help drivers stay focused. This includes the camera’s Drowsy Driving detection, which measures driver eye closure duration and head position, and Cell Phone Distraction Monitoring, which detects when drivers hold their phones to their ears for a certain duration.
“Fleet managers gain real-time footage alongside data insights and are empowered to protect their drivers and gain a competitive edge to win business,” Sharma explained.
When the camera detects any of these parameters for a specific duration of time, it can send alerts to both the driver and the back office. Drivers will hear an audible spoken-word alert, while the back-office team receives an event notification with both footage and telematics data in Teletrac Navman’s fleet management system, TN360.
