Carrier Transicold releases TRU Status Light for reefers
The light can be easily seen from the driver’s seat and from the ground and can display different symbols based on if the TRU is operating as it should or not.
Carrier Transicold has released its TRU Status Light, which offers an easy indicator of transport refrigeration unit (TRU) operation status. The LED light displays two patterns: A white circle when the TRU is operating normally and a yellow triangle that also signals an alarm on the TRU controller display.
“Our TRU Status Light tells you at a glance whether the TRU is working as expected or needs attention,” said Ching Yue Yeung, senior manager, Aftermarket Products, Carrier Transicold. “This patented design is based on input from customers who want a simple, reliable unit-status indicator that’s easy to see and understand.”
The Status Light mounts on the front corner of a reefer trailer for easy status checks from both the driver’s seat or on the ground. Additionally, the light can adjust its output based on whether or not it is in direct sunlight, reflective conditions, or night hours, increasing and decreasing its light for better visibility. Its housing and lens are IP67 rated to resist harsh environments, and is UV resistant and sealed to keep out dust, moisture, and road grime.
As well as this, the light is compatible with the Carrier Transicold APX, Advance, and Summit controllers, as well as other TRU makes. Carrier Transicold also offers multiple kits for a reefer’s specific installation needs, such as L-bracket and recessed bracket options, which make it easier to upgrade a trailer’s existing light bars.
The TRU Status Light is now standard on new Carrier Transicold trailer TRUs, but fleets can purchase the light as an aftermarket replacement as well as harness adapters and splitter harnesses.
