Sigma Powertrain is expanding its MID-Series product line with a new wide-ratio three-speed electric transmission for Class 1-7 commercial vehicles. Designed for both battery-electric and hybrid applications, the wide-ratio variant increases the first-gear ratio from 2.74:1 to 5.28:1, nearly doubling the low-speed torque multiplication available for loaded launches and steep grades while maintaining a direct-drive 1:1 top gear for efficient highway cruise. Maximum output torque reaches 7,920 Nm from a 1,500 Nm input. Additional features include patented all-electric clutch actuation with no hydraulics and hardened steel, zero-wear clutch plates. The transmission is motor-agnostic and operates at input speeds up to 10,000 RPM.
