Noregon expands JPRO diagnostics and guided troubleshooting
Noregon’s latest update to JPRO adds expanded CAN bus diagnostics, guided troubleshooting features, and broader OEM coverage aimed at helping technicians diagnose communication faults faster and with less manual testing.
The update builds on JPRO’s recently added ability to diagnose CAN bus issues and measure voltage and resistance directly through the software. With tighter integration into the platform’s Repair Mentor feature, technicians can now identify the location of open circuits, disconnected wiring, or shorts while also graphing live data needed to isolate root causes.
“CAN bus diagnostic technology has been a game changer for customers who took advantage of it with the last JPRO release, but this update makes it an even more accessible feature for technicians of any skill level,” said Jason Hedman, Noregon product manager. “By following prompts in the software, newer technicians can solve communication issues under the guidance of their diagnostic tool without always having to grab a multimeter or pull away a more experienced coworker.”
The enhancements are designed to simplify electrical diagnostics for less experienced technicians by guiding users through troubleshooting steps directly in the software rather than relying solely on multimeters or senior tech support. For shops dealing with increasingly complex vehicle networks and multiplexed systems, the update could reduce diagnostic time tied to intermittent communication faults and no-communication conditions.
On-highway additions include proprietary engine fault coverage and roll call support for Mack and Volvo VN4 architecture vehicles, including Mack Anthem and Pioneer models and Volvo VNL trucks. JPRO also adds new bidirectional tests for major component suppliers including Cummins and Eaton.
For mixed fleets, the software update expands off-highway support with additional commands, tests, and coverage for manufacturers such as John Deere, Kubota, and Yanmar. Noregon said the off-highway support remains included within the standard subscription and doesn't require a separate license.
Other additions include an optional dark mode interface and updated in-application software prompts. Shops can download the update directly through JPRO or from Noregon’s website.
