The OTC Connecting Rod Guides, No. 6553, come in a set of two and are used to protect the crankshaft bearing surface from damage during piston and connecting rod removal or installation. To help prevent nicking or scratching, guides install onto the connecting rod after the cap is removed. The guides are similar to EN-51454 and are for rods with M8 X 1.0 threads, the company says.
