ASE webinar to cover modern ignition technology

The webinar will cover spark plug advances, smart ignition coils, and waveform analysis for diagnosing modern ignition systems.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) will host a free webinar October 6 covering modern ignition technology and diagnostic strategies.

“Modern Ignition Technology” will be presented by Philip Austin of Niterra/NGK Pro Training – Powered by Shop Squad from 4 to 5 p.m. ET.

The webinar will cover how changes in engine operating conditions have driven advances in spark plugs, ignition coils, and ignition system controls. Austin will discuss spark plug designs and metallurgy, smart ignition coils with internal control and feedback, and diagnostic strategies for modern ignition systems.

The session will also cover ignition primary waveform analysis, including how technicians can compare cylinder waveforms and use them to identify root causes rather than symptoms.

Participants who attend the live session will receive a certificate of attendance. ASE also says registrants who cannot attend live will receive information about accessing a recording, if available, with registrants receiving priority access.
