Fleet Maintenance Overachievers of the Year: 2023 full list

Dec. 19, 2023
You can’t succeed in commercial vehicle maintenance without a good work ethic, but some take it to another level. Here are the six overachievers our judges selected as the best of the best for 2023.

Overachievers drive everyone else to try a little harder and pay a little bit more attention to detail. In an industry where mistakes can cost lives, they are nothing short of indispensable. That’s why we created this recognition program to remind everyone of that fact and to honor everyone in the industry who does their job the right way because it’s the right thing to do.

Most likely, the hardest workers get the least amount of positive feedback, because if they ain’t broke, why manage them? We offered managers a chance to publicly call out their best employees and were not disappointed by the numerous entries. Calls for submissions went out in October, and finalists were selected in November by our panel of judges.

There were many worthy maintenance professionals, but these six winners all exemplify what it means to overachieve. One thing we noticed is that though their jobs are all very different, they share several common traits, most notably humility, selflessness, and innovation. (Hiring managers take note.)

While some may feel recognition is its own reward, we don’t. Along with a trophy, each winner will be receiving gifts donated generously by FleetPride, Fullbay, Milwaukee Tool, Red Kap, and TEXA USA.

Colby Coleman | “The Facilitator”

Travis Reekie | “The Jack-of-All-Makes”
Technician | City of Ottawa, Kansas

Kansas farmboy turned city superhero: It's a familiar fictional tale, but for technician Travis Reekie, it's his day-to-day job.

Regina Zahm | “The Caretaker”
Service coordinator | Great Dane Indianapolis

After many years caring for cancer-ridden children, Regina Zahm left nursing to join Great Dane Trailers in Indianapolis, where her patience and grace under fire help her deal with any problems that come her way.

Ryan Ziegler | “The Road Warrior”

Managing 30 technicians is never easy. Driving 1,000 miles a week to help and support each one is an added challenge for Ryan Ziegler, a mobile technician leader at Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services. Because he enjoys it so much, the job never feels like work.
