Noregon’s fleet asset management tool, TripVision, underwent a recent update to increase coverage and implement new features. TripVision provides real-time vehicle health and safety assessments, insights into performance related issues and expert recommendations for managing each vehicle to maximize uptime.

Because TripVision monitors all electronic components, as opposed to just the engine, the application can detect issues on various subsystems that affect the health, safety, or performance of a vehicle.

“Our customers praise TripVision for its ability to help maximize uptime with actionable health and safety information,” said Dave Covington, Noregon’s Chief Technology Officer. “However, fleets asked for a way to uncover additional cost saving opportunities, too. We responded by adding icons that indicate issues affecting the performance of the vehicle, which threatens a fleet’s bottom line. Customers now see which vehicles have faults affecting fuel economy, emission systems, CSA compliance, or parameters set above the fleet’s standards.”

Discussing the addition of parameters, Covington said, “TripVision now displays a vehicle’s limits for road and cruise speeds. Vehicles with regulated speeds configured above normal values are a major concern for our customers. Fuel economy is affected when parameters are set too high, but more importantly, it presents an immediate liability and safety concern for vehicle owners.”

As a company appraised at maturity level 3 for development using the CMMI model, Noregon ensures TripVision delivers updates in a consistent timeframe with quality features.

Mike Lis, TripVision Product Manager, discussed the variety of methods the company uses to ensure long and short-term enhancements meet the company’s quality standards.

“We routinely have conversations with fleets, constantly perform market research, and gather customer feedback by encouraging feature requests within the online portal," he noted.

Lis added, “The great thing about TripVision is the ability to compile feedback from our variety of sources, add desired features to our roadmap, and implement them on a schedule that meets our customers’ needs. As a Saas application, once a new feature is made available, all customers benefit from the addition with their active subscription.”

Accompanying the new features and increased coverage, Noregon released TripVision apps for iOS and Android phones. Complementing the online portal, which is accessible from any internet-connected device, the mobile applications provide an additional platform that fleet personnel value while away from their laptop or PC.

In the fleet world, OEMs are critical resources for fleets, whether regarding procurement or maintenance. But they shouldn’t be the only ones fleets solicit for information.
