Fleetio launches EV management tools

Feb. 21, 2024
The company's electric vehicle management tool features charging session tracking and customizable alerts and reports.

Fleetio has rolled out its initial electrical vehicle fleet management offering, including tools to track charging costs across a mixed fleet. The software can monitor several charging session details, including fees, discounts, session duration, and energy usage, and can be imported individually or in bulk.

“This launch directly addresses [customer] needs for greater control, transparency and efficiency in managing mixed fleets,” said Esteban Contreras, vice president of product management at Fleetio. “These innovative EV features help businesses make informed decisions, optimize costs, and achieve tangible resultswhether they’re reducing fuel consumption, improving fleet performance, or simply making investments in electrification.”

More specifically, Fleetio’s EV features can assign public charging stations, home addresses, or other charging locations, allowing fleets to segment and customize their energy data analysis. The software also includes an integrated Charging Entries Index, which provides an overview of a fleet’s charging activity. The Index centralizes data involving total costs, energy consumption, average mileage, and average cost per kilowatt-hour.

Beyond collecting data, the EV fleet management option can also generate charging entries, a feature which is currently available for Fleetio customers with access to sensor data via their Geotab package. These charging entries can include optional workflow approval requirements as well and provide real-time charging data and additional monitoring with user-defined thresholds.

Finally, Fleetio’s enhanced Vehicle Sensor Chart offers data tracking for battery health, charging status, and vehicle state of charge.
