AutoZone has partnered with TechForce Foundation to offer $60,000 in scholarships to assist students working to become technicians. Together, this amount will fund more than 30 scholarships to help students cover the cost of their education, the companies said in a release.
“Thousands of technicians have completed school and entered the workforce after receiving support from TechForce,” said TechForce Foundation CEO Jennifer Maher. “When a few hundred-dollar expenses are all it takes to derail a student’s technical education, each scholarship makes a difference.”
One such case was for Michael Buscher, a past scholarship recipient who said the money was “instrumental” in supporting his education and career. Buscher received his scholarship in 2024 while he was studying at the Universal Technical Institute.
“It helped alleviate the financial burden of attending tech school, enabling me to focus on my training,” Buscher explained. “Additionally, it has given me the opportunity to pursue higher education in college while working part-time to gain hands-on experience in the field. This combination of education and work experience has set a strong foundation for my future career.”
Now, Buscher works at an independent shop as a diesel technician and welder/fabricator in Pearland, Texas.
Besides its contribution to TechForce Foundation’s scholarship fund, AutoZone has also generally donated to TechForce Foundation’s work.
