CLEVELAND—The American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Councils’ National Technicians Skills Competitions, or TMCSuperTech 2022 for short, was back in full force for its 17th year. Taking place in Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center, a total of 137 current and prospective students took turns at a mix of practical and written tests, ranging from wheel-ends to trailer lighting, and everything in between.
This broke down to 87 techs in the heavy-duty track, 21 in the trailer track, 11 in the light- and medium-duty track, and 17 in the student skills competition—TMCFutureTech. The heavy-duty track started on September 25 with 12 skills stations, and nine on Day 2. The other three had to get through 13 stations on Day 2, with each track varying slightly. Trailer techs got to skip the aftertreatment station, but had rollup doors and trailer alignment stations.
