ASE offers free technician webinar on OBDII data

Jan. 12, 2024
The free webinar will take place on Jan. 16 and will cover understanding monitor tests and how to complete them efficiently.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence will be hosting a free technician webinar on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 4 p.m. ET called “OBDII Data – Reading Between the Lines.”

The webinar will be hosted by a technical trainer, Rick Escalambre, who will discuss running monitor tests and how they work with the power control module (PCM) to verify a successful repair. Escalambre will provide a process for technicians to identify the correct enable criteria, address MODE $06, and demonstrate the variable to successfully complete monitor tests.

He’ll also demonstrate the importance of reviewing data parameter identifications (PIDs) before starting the vehicle and discuss how to understand, and explain, the process when monitor tests won’t run or take longer than expected.

Those who attend the session will receive a certificate of attendance, which may take a week to arrive via email. Once a prospective attendee has registered here, they will receive a confirmation email and, if they can’t be at the event, a follow-up email for a recorded session if available.
