A. Duie Pyle breaks ground on new integrated facility near Port of Virginia
A. Duie Pyle is building a new integrated logistics campus near the Port of Virginia that combines LTL cross-dock and warehouse operations, a move the fleet says it aimed at improving freight flow, reducing dwell time, and supporting higher uptime across its Mid-Atlantic and Northeast network.
The company has broken ground on the new facility at the Port 460 Logistics Center in Suffolk, Virginia, after purchasing a 43-acre site within the master-planned industrial development. The project will bring a 52-door LTL cross-dock and 200,000 sq.-ft. warehouse under one roof, with the ability to expand to 420,000 sq. ft. The site is designed to support LTL, transloading, warehousing, drayage, dedicated services, and truckload brokerage operations in one location.
“Our expansion in the Suffolk–Norfolk market reflects a strategic response to the rapidly evolving demands of today’s supply chain,” said Frank Granieri, CCO at A. Duie Pyle. “In recent years, shippers have navigated unprecedented disruptions, elevating the need for speed, resilience and adaptability across their networks. By establishing this integrated warehouse and LTL service center near the Port of Virginia, we’re not just enhancing our capacity; we’re addressing the pressing need for more efficient, adaptive solutions that streamline operations in a high-demand market. This facility will allow Pyle to offer enhanced services that drive transparency, improve supply chain connectivity and, ultimately, deliver the flexibility and speed that today’s shippers require to remain competitive.”
By combining storage and transportation operations, Pyle expects freight to move more directly from port to final-mile delivery, helping equipment return to service faster and improving trailer and tractor utilization. The location near the Port of Virginia also provides direct access to major Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Ohio freight corridors, supporting more predictable routing and service schedules.
The campus is scheduled for completion in Q2 2027 and will support Pyle’s network stretching from Virginia to Maine and west through Ohio. In addition to freight efficiency, the facility is expected to add operational jobs, including warehouse staff and drivers, which can influence regional capacity and service coverage for shippers and fleets operating in the port region.
