Key Highlights
- PPG is expanding its distribution network to offer more vehicle surface protection products.
- PPG STREAM paint protection film could have applications in commercial vehicles beyond passenger cars.
- On-demand film-cutting software can help dealers reduce material waste and streamline installation.
PPG is expanding distribution of its PPG STREAM paint protection film through its PPG PLATINUM DISTRIBUTOR network and adding several Saint-Gobain products through a new distribution partnership.
The partnership adds SOLAR GARD automotive window tint, CLEARSHIELD windshield protection film, and the COMPUTERCUT film-cutting system to the PPG Advanced Surface Technologies joint venture’s product portfolio. The joint venture was formed with Entrotech.
The expanded distribution network will allow participating PPG Platinum Distributors, which previously focused on PPG paint products, to offer customers additional vehicle surface protection options.
PPG STREAM paint protection film uses a multilayer construction with at least one paint layer. The film can be applied without a paint booth and offers finish options, including matte and high-gloss appearances. While primarily used on passenger vehicles, the technology also has potential applications in commercial vehicles and has 15 years of market history through Entrotech, according to PPG Advanced Surface Technologies CEO Greg Booth.
The Saint-Gobain products expand the joint venture’s offerings beyond paint protection. SOLAR GARD automotive window tint and CLEARSHIELD windshield protection film are designed to provide occupant comfort and UV protection. COMPUTERCUT software allows dealers to cut film patterns on demand, helping reduce material waste and streamline installation.
