Consolidated Metco introduces premium wheel end bearings

New wheel end bearings designed for precision, performance and longevity

With close to 50 years of developing, manufacturing and selling advanced wheel hub assemblies for the commercial vehicle industry, Consolidated Metco (ConMet) has now developed its own line of premium bearings.

The news was announced at last week's Annual Technology and Maintenance Council Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition - the premier event for fleet maintenance management meeting - held in Nashville, TN.

"ConMet premium bearings are specifically designed to meet the challenging demands of today's heavy duty trucks," explained Mark Wagner, vice president/general manager of ConMet's wheel end division. "Truck OEM's and fleets are looking for wheel hub components that offer longer service intervals and the assurance of an industry-leading warranty. These new bearings provide both."

ConMet premium bearings are designed and built for precision, performance and longevity, said Bryan Williams, the company's application engineering manager, and noted that their precisely engineered profiles minimize raceway and roller stresses under heavy loads and provide better performance under light loads.

In addition, the reduction in stresses at the roller ends reduces the sensitivity of the bearing to heavy cornering and misalignment, he said. The highly-controlled honed surface finish is 40 percent smoother than current industry standards, resulting in improved rolling contact, reduced friction, lower operating temperatures and improved lubrication characteristics.

PreSet Plus

When ConMet premium bearings are used in ConMet's PreSet Plus hub assemblies, the combination is backed by an industry leading extended warranty.

ConMet's PreSet Plus hub assembly is designed to provide enhanced wheel end maintenance with features such as an integrated spindle nut design that helps simplify installation, protect components during installation and removal and help in removal of the assembly during service. The nut is also designed to increase clamp, improve safety and eliminate adjustments required to engage a locking ring.

ConMet premium bearings are available on PreSet Plus steer and drive hub assemblies for Class 8 vehicles.
