Pro-Cut shares 3Cs brake lathe training method
Pro-Cut has expanded its free online training to help technicians get the most out of the company’s on-car brake lathes. A core part of the training is the 3Cs method, designed to give techs a quick and simple foundation for using the equipment correctly.
Getting consistent results when restoring and resurfacing brake rotors requires using the lathe correctly every time. Pro-Cut’s on-car systems are designed to streamline brake service with smooth operation and tighter run-out tolerances, but still require some fundamentals to operate the equipment efficiently.
The 3Cs online training includes three short videos that walk through:
- Connect: How to attach the adapter to the hub, attach the lathe to the adapter, set the cutting head and arms, lock the trolley in position, and set the shut-off cam
- Compensate: How to disengage the e-stop if needed, bring the lathe up to full power for compensation, and use adjustment buttons on the lathe
- Cut: Proper steps for machining rotors
“Because we continually emphasize the value of resurfacing and matching brake rotors, both for shops and their customers, we believe it is important to make sure that shop personnel know how to maximize the use of their Pro-Cut on-car brake lathes,” said Jeff Hastings, president of Pro-Cut. “We have developed additional training options to help them learn how to leverage their Pro-Cut investments to enhance performance, efficiency and profitability.”
For techs who want deeper instruction, Pro-Cut also offers free live online training sessions every Thursday.
