Hendrickson cuts weight on STEERTEK NEXT steer axles

According to the company, STEERTEK NXT has improved its weight savings by 25 lbs. and offers extended recommended service intervals and a two-piece knuckle design.
Hendrickson has updated the STEERTEK NXT steer axles on Blue Bird school buses, primarily optimizing the axle’s design and reducing its weight. Currently, STEERTEK NXT is on certain Blue Bird Vision and All American school bus models for both SOFTEK and AIRTEK suspension systems.
“Partnering with Blue Bird to bring the newest advancements in STEERTEK NXT steer axles to the school bus market is an exciting step forward,” said Sean Whitfield, director of Marketing at Hendrickson. “With this lighter-weight version of our proven STEERTEK NXT axle, we’re adding vehicle weight reduction to a product designed to enhance uptime with reduced maintenance needs and outstanding serviceability.”
With the updates, the STEERTEK NXT has improved its weight savings by an additional 25 lbs., increasing payload capacity and fuel efficiency, the company said. Additionally, the steer axle is made in the U.S., features extended recommended service intervals, and includes a two-piece knuckle design for easier service.
