SKF training trucks visit over 100,000 technicians across North America

Nov. 27, 2013
SKF launched its training truck program in 2010 to create a one-on-one educational experience with automotive and heavy duty technicians.

SKF announced that its popular training trucks have now interacted with more than 100,000 professional technicians across North America. SKF launched its training truck program in 2010 to create a one-on-one educational experience with automotive and heavy duty technicians.
The core of the SKF training truck program revolves around six dedicated training trucks that cover the automotive and heavy duty aftermarkets in the U.S. and Canada. These trucks feature interactive vehicle system assemblies and a large-screen monitor for showing technical tip and product videos. The SKF training trucks cover failure analysis, proper removal and installation techniques, as well as proper drivetrain, engine and wheel end maintenance practices. In addition, the trucks contain detailed product cutaways designed to show the differences between SKF premium products and value line products.

“The SKF training trucks are designed to not only showcase SKF products, but to educate automotive and heavy duty technicians about how to successfully install SKF products,” said Pete Kaftantzis, technical training supervisor, SKF. “By delivering SKF knowledge through the training trucks, SKF is helping technicians ultimately maintain a profitable repair business through proper maintenance and repair practices.”

SKF developed this program for specific markets. Three trucks are dedicated to the automotive aftermarket, and are manned by ASE Master-certified technicians. The additional three trucks are dedicated to the heavy duty aftermarket and are manned by SKF's dedicated sales force who have all received extensive product and technical training. The heavy duty training trucks include SKF's popular TFO (Trouble Free Operation) program, a proven systems approach to heavy duty maintenance that has made a significant contribution to many fleets' overall productivity.

Additionally, each truck is outfitted to highlight SKF online training capabilities, including an active Twitter page (@skfpartsinfo) and a YouTube channel (www.skfpartsinfo.tv) with various product and training videos.
