The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford and Rivian

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Ranger models’ rearview camera image may not display

Ford is recalling certain 2026 Ranger vehicles equipped with a 10.1-inch center stack screen. The screen may lose power and fail to display the rearview camera image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility." A rearview camera image that does not display reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 11,405 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed October 5. Additional letters will be sent when the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C42.

Rivian is recalling certain 2022-2027 R1S, 2022-2026 R1T, and 2027 R2 vehicles. The rearview camera image may be obstructed by a notification when in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility." An obstructed rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 98,828 vehicles. Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 9. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1866.
