Range Energy, ESL Power Systems partner on charging for eTrailer demos
May 2, 2025
As part of their agreement, Range Energy will offer ESL Power Systems’ charger as part of its portfolio, and ESL will provide 480V 3-phase chargers for eTrailer fleet site demos.
Range Energy is partnering with ESL Power Systems to provide scalable charging for Range’s eTrailer System, which will include future product demonstrations.
“Collaborating with ESL represents a critical step towards electric and hybrid-electric commercial fleet operations,” said Jon Foster, CEO, Range Energy. “By demonstrating the real-world feasibility of affordable alternating current (AC) charging to support electric and hybrid-electric fleet operations, we are proving that practical electrification solutions exist today.”
For the collaboration, Range is working on adding ESL’s charging solution to its portfolio. To prepare for this, the companies will hold interoperability testing to test ESL’s integration and optimize charging efficiency. Range and ESL will also work with air quality regulators to demonstrate the eTrailer’s feasibility for real-world operations and its environmental benefits. To support this project, ESL will install 480V 3-phase charging hardware at the participating fleet sites, which will be used throughout the demonstrations and will then be owned by those fleets.
With this partnership, ELS and Range Energy hope to leverage existing shore power infrastructure and affordable charging hardware to support fleets’ transition to electric or hybrid-electric operations, the companies stated in a release.
