Carrier Transicold releases all-electric Vector 8200 TRU
The all-electric transport refrigeration unit is designed to eliminate fuel consumption, emissions, noise, and operating costs from diesel-powered engines and generators.
Carrier Transicold has launched its all-electric engineless refrigeration unit, the Vector 8200. The system offers both single and multi-temperature capabilities for trailers used for stationary cold storage by using electricity from the grid or other power sources.
“As companies seek to manage their operating costs and impact on neighbors and the environment, the Vector 8200 is a quiet, durable, intelligent all-electric solution for single- or multi-temperature trailer storage,” said Arthur Pluta, electrification product manager, truck trailer Americas, Carrier Transicold.
The system features the TRU-Demand E-Drive energy management system to monitor its power draw and adjust to a facility’s electrical supply, allowing it to maintain voltage during brownouts and preventing grid strain when units restart after power outages, the company said. Additionally, the Vector 8200 comes with four remote evaporator choices to allow fleets to cool one-, two-, or three-compartment trailers.
Each unit can deliver up to 58,000 BTU per hour at 35 degrees F, and can offer electric heating and defrost settings as well. The Vector 8200 also comes with advanced APX controls using Carrier Transicold’s IntelliSet technology with ProductShield for temperature management, as well as a Lynx Fleet telematics integration to monitor reefer fleets and provide two-way controls. Finally, the Vector 8200 offers fleets a hermetic electric scroll compressor, a high-efficiency microchannel condenser, maintenance-free AC fan motors, and an electronic expansion valve. For additional flexibility, fleets can choose between a high-power 40-amp battery charger and a TRU-mounted solar charging system.
The move will strengthen Allison's position with customers in construction, mining, and ag, while allowing Dana to streamline its commercial vehicle product lines.
