CURT launches 30k-lb fifth wheel hitch

June 15, 2021
The PowerRide features a 30,000-lb fully tested rating and a 7,500-lb vertical load limit.

CURT announced the PowerRide 30K fifth wheel hitch. PowerRide equips a truck with a professional-grade solution for fifthwheel towing. It is ideal for towing RV trailers, campers, and other fifth wheel trailers. It features a 30,000-lb fully tested rating and a number of distinct features, including a cast head with multi-directional tilt, an easy-to-use self-resetting handle, enhanced portability, and no welding or fabricating required for installation. With its 30K gross trailer weight rating and 7,500-lb vertical load limit, this CURT fifth wheel offers exceptional towing power and is constructed with a cast steel main body for dependable strength.

The hitch uses two interlocking jaws to fully wrap the kingpin for less chucking, and its cast yoke head tilts in multiple directions – not just forward and backward – to promote a smooth ride. The self-resetting handle resets the jaws to the ready-to-couple position after uncoupling, saving an extra step in the hookup process.

For installation and removal, PowerRide features a one-pin head removal system. The central pin can be removed as needed, breaking the hitch down into smaller, easier-to-lift pieces. To ensure long-lasting use, the fifth wheel head is equipped with a durable wear indicator which also contributes to smoother towing and eliminates the need for messy grease or a lube plate. The hitch is also equipped with strategically placed grip points for a comfortable, confident hold when lifting. Additionally, the PowerRide is thoroughly tested to SAE J2638 specifications for safety.
