Bosch has announced plans to acquire Uptake Technologies, a Chicago-based provider of AI-driven predictive maintenance software, in a move aimed at strengthening its vehicle health and fleet service offerings.

The acquisition is intended to expand Bosch’s ability to deliver data-driven maintenance insights and help fleets reduce downtime, improve parts planning, and better manage repair events. Uptake’s platform uses AI and machine learning to analyze vehicle data and predict potential failures, allowing fleets to address issues before they lead to breakdowns.

For fleets, that translates to more proactive maintenance scheduling and fewer unexpected breakdowns—two key factors in improving uptime and controlling operating costs.

“The AI capabilities from Uptake Technologies are a crucial element to expanding our predictive maintenance offerings and accelerating innovation for OEM and fleet customers,” said Paul Thomas, president of Bosch in North America and president of Bosch Mobility Americas.

Adam McElhinney, CEO at Uptake Technologies added, “Together, our goal is to combine our predictive analytics tools to transform how vehicle maintenance is managed and optimized, not just for fleets, but for OEMs as well.”

Bosch said it plans to integrate the predictive analytics into its existing ecosystem, combining it with data from its Connectivity Hub telematics platform and FleetME solutions. The goal is to provide a more complete, end-to-end view of vehicle health, from fault detection to repair and validation.

Uptake’s system also ties predictions to severity and cost impact, helping fleets to prioritize repairs and make more informed decisions. The platform includes a feedback loop that uses completed repair data to improve prediction accuracy over time.

Bosch expects to integrate Uptake’s team and technology into its mobility services portfolio following the close of the transaction.
