Fontaine Modification moves into new North Carolina HQ

May 2, 2024
The facility doubles the company's production and new product development capabilities.

Fontaine Modification recently moved into a new state-of-the-art corporate headquarters at 8810 Old Dowd Rd. in Charlotte. The 145,000-sq.-ft. facility is nearly three times the size of its previous location, doubling its production and product development capabilities.

“The commercial vehicle industry is in a period of rapid technological change,” said Jamil Young, Fontaine Modification president as of February. “Demand for our traditional design, engineering and production services for vocational and on-highway trucks is growing at the same time we are being asked to provide the engineering support and path to market for a wide range of new commercial vehicle technologies, including zero-emissions vehicles. Our new headquarters has the space we need to meet our customers’ needs more efficiently.”

The company's new building includes corporate offices, its new product development technical center, and a full modification center that serves the Freightliner Mt. Holly production plant. More than 75 people are currently employed at the location.

The new facility will continue to grow in stages, the company said, with future development plans including a video production studio and a customer pilot review center.

Fontaine was founded in 1985 as an engineering-driven provider of post-production services for OEMs, truck dealers, and fleets. Its 10 modification centers currently in operation are strategically located near OEM plants across the United States, with their headquarters in Charlotte since 1991.
