FMCSA removes ROBINHOOD ELD from list of registered ELDs
As of Sept. 19, 2025, The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has removed ROBINHOOD ELD from its list of registered logging devices (ELDs). The devices was removed because it didn’t meant FMCSA’s requirements as established in in Title 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395.
The specific model that is no longer registered is R-HOOD ELD, identifier: RHD481. Fleets now have 60 days, or until Nov. 18, 2025, to remove the offending ELD and replace it with a compliant one. In the interim, FMCSA advises fleets to revert to using paper logs or logging software instead of the revoked device.
Fleets can find the list of registered devices here.
Before the Nov. 18 deadline, inspectors won’t penalize drivers or carriers for using the ROBINHOOD ELD by citing them for 395.8(a)(1) – “No record of duty status” or 395.22(a) – “Failing to use a registered ELD.” Instead, they’ll ask for a driver’s back-up recording method.
However, after that deadline, fleets still using the ROBINHOOD ELD will be considered driving without an ELD and will be placed out-of-service. If ROBINHOOD ELD corrects the deficiencies in its device, it will return to the registered devices list and FMCSA will notify the industry.
