Western Star Truck Sales, Inc., announced that Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA) proprietary 40,000-lb Airliner rear suspension with welded axle seats will be available in June 2016 in the 4900 model tractors in bulk haul and tanker applications.

Western Star Truck Sales, Inc., announced that Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA) proprietary 40,000-lb Airliner rear suspension with welded axle seats will be available in June 2016 in the 4900 model tractors in bulk haul and tanker applications.

DTNA’s proprietary Airliner rear suspension is an industry leader and is spec’d on almost every on-highway tractor built by Western Star. The rear suspension is now available for Western Star customers in liquid bulk applications at a reduced cost and with added weight savings.

“Bulk haul and tanker are some of the most weight sensitive applications in our industry. Western Star engineers have developed our 40,000-lb Airliner rear suspension with welded axle seats to handle the stresses that the “sloshing” liquid loads in bulk and tanker applications transfer to a truck’s rear suspension,” said Mike Guarino, on-highway marketing manager, Western Star. “The 40,000-lb Airliner with welded axle seats is 120 lbs lighter than the Extra-Duty version. This rear suspension not only saves our customers money, but allows them to haul more payload which adds to their bottom line."

Previously, the 4900 bulk haul and tanker application tractors required the heavier and more expensive 40,000-lb Airliner Extra Duty rear suspension. With the new design of the 40,000-lb Airliner with welded axle seats customers will realize added weight savings and a lower total cost of ownership with the 4900.
