Western Star Truck Sales, Inc., announced the availability of the Fabco FAT-30 auxiliary transmission for the 6900XD. The FAT-30 is a stationary shift three-speed and is ideal for extra heavy duty on- and off-road jobs, such as specialized heavy haul, oil field, mining and many other demanding applications.“

This auxiliary transmission can handle 30,000 ft/lbs of input torque, giving it the highest torques rating in the industry. Fabco’s FAT-30 is available in both two- and three-speed pneumatically shifted models and can be teamed with both manual and automatic transmissions. The overdrive ratio (three speed) results in higher road speed capability and increased fuel economy.

The FAT-30’s proven reliability and durability is reflected in its robust cast-iron housing design. The planetary gearing provides quiet and smooth operation. It is standard with a top-mount eight-bolt PTO pad.

“When drivers are on site performing tough jobs, we want to create a driver-friendly environment that also contributes to performance,” said Ann Demitruk, vice president of marketing, Western Star. “Our 6900XD trucks are engineered for the heaviest of hauls, and the FAT-30 will only enhance their operation.”
