Kenworth announces leadership changes as Ahrens, Adams take new roles
Kenworth is making changes to its executive leadership team, appointing Peter Ahrens as general manager and PACCAR vice president, while Joe Adams will step into the role of assistant general manager of operations effective July 1. The appointments place two longtime PACCAR leaders with engineering and operations experience into key positions as the OEM continues advancing vehicle technology and production operations.
Ahrens previously served as Kenworth’s assistant general manager of operations and has spent 15 years with PACCAR in roles tied to parts, product marketing, and international truck operations. His background includes time as PACCAR Parts product director, director of product marketing, and managing director for Leyland Trucks in the United Kingdom. He holds electrical engineering and MBA degrees from the University of Washington.
Adams, who will oversee operations, most recently served as Kenworth’s chief engineer. During his 26 years with PACCAR, he held leadership positions in purchasing, embedded engineering, and cab and electrical system development. His experience spans vehicle engineering and manufacturing coordination, areas that continue to play a larger role as trucks incorporate more advanced electrical architectures and connected technologies.
For fleets and maintenance operations, leadership changes at major OEMs can signal future shifts in vehicle design priorities, service support, and manufacturing strategy. Both appointments bring strong engineering backgrounds, particularly in electrical systems and product development, which may influence how Kenworth approaches vehicle technology, diagnostics, and serviceability moving forward.
