The Michigan legislature has passed a bill that strongly limits the use of aftermarket and remanufactured parts to repair vehicles during their warranty period, or five years, whichever is less. The measure is now before Gov. Rick Snyder.

If enacted, this bill would limit Michigan consumers’ choices about repair options, and increase prices by giving strong preference to OEM parts for repairs. The measure also would have a negative impact on existing aftermarket retail sales and manufacturing jobs.
