All the mobile devices and interfaces being added to truck cabs are creating some safety concerns for drivers, says Robert Vogt, CEO of IOSix.

An automotive engineering firm, the company produces miniaturized and cost-optimized solutions, including automotive and heavy truck dataloggers, GPS trackers and other aftermarket and OEM vehicle systems.

The problem, he says, is being compounded by the electronic logging device (ELD) mandate. It replaces the paper logbook some drivers currently use to record their compliance with Hours of Service requirements.

One way to deal with the problem is to use compact interfaces.

Vogt says there are some important considerations when deciding upon an ELD solution.
