Aperia Technologies is expanding its Halo automatic tire inflation system (ATIS) to include steer tires, while also integrating fifth wheel connection data through a new partnership with Fontaine Fifth Wheel, the company announced during American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council annual meeting in Nashville. Aperia also spotlighted a Foodliner truck in its booth during the show.

The new steer tire inflator marks Aperia’s first system designed specifically for this safety-critical wheel position. The solution continuously maintains target tire pressure while feeding data into the Halo Connect platform, which uses predictive analytics to identify leaks and emerging issues. Unlike traditional TPMS alerts, the system is designed to notify fleets only when intervention is required, flagging issues before they lead to roadside events or irregular wear without overloading fleet managers with alerts.

At the same time, Aperia is integrating Fontaine’s SmartConnect fifth wheel technology into the Halo Connect platform. The system provides real-time confirmation of fifth wheel lock status, allowing fleets and drivers to verify trailer coupling through a single interface alongside their tire data. The combined platform is expected to roll out with select "leading fleets" this year.

“Halo is designed to unify critical vehicle data in one place. By visualizing SmartConnect information in our app and portal, we make it easier for drivers and fleet managers to act on that information quickly and confidently," Ralph Dimenna, Aperia chief commercial officer, said in a news release.

“Integrating SmartConnect with Halo Connect brings fleets a powerful new layer of insurance and operational intelligence,” said Aaron Puckett, Fontaine senior VP of business development. “By unifying fifth‑wheel lock status with other mission‑critical data, we’re giving drivers and fleet managers clearer, faster insight into every connection they make. This partnership ensures that the value of a connected fifth wheel is fully realized in the digital tools fleets already rely on.”
